It's been a while since I've worked in oils as most of my work has been focused in watercolor lately. It was still fun to do and I am working on putting together a gallery show for a beautiful gallery in downtown Minneapolis that has expressed interest in my work. So on to the next one!
Help Support Children's Education By Supporting GradeTree

GradeTree has been a client of mine since its conception. The founders really understand the need to do something about the sliding education of America's children and their ideas can help make a difference. GradeTree is an amazing program that has documented success in raising children's grades and performances by simply creating more communication between parents and teachers. On it's test runs the students performances drastically improved. The teachers want GradeTree, parents are dying for it, too. All that is needed is the finances to install it in the schools.

Please visit http://www.indiegogo.com/Gradetree to learn more about the program and to contribute to their fund, even just $5 dollars would help! If you are concerned about education in America please give. Or if you just like the logo I designed you can donate too!GorgeousGeorgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01122687368936107406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6528225967541722804.post-79334819650887038942012-04-24T14:38:00.001-05:002012-04-24T14:38:28.834-05:00Stylish Website/Blog Banner

This was for my sisters website/blog, she is an amazing writer, awards from the associated press and what not. So even thought banners are small jobs, it was still an honor when she asked me to create something for her page. She knew exactly what she wanted, we made a few changes along the way and within 24 hours she called it perfect. It was a fun break from the Zombie & Monkey projects, used only pencil and photoshop, and I'm kinda proud of it too. So y'all should check out her blog, it's fantastic!

So the front of the card matches my site (in fact the bc design inspired the current look of Gorgeous George) but it took me forever to decide what I wanted on the back. But I really needed those bc's soon so I sat down last night and whipped this up for side two. I like it, even if it is corny. So cards are ordered and I got an engraved holder to carry them in. New cards are always fun!GorgeousGeorgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01122687368936107406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6528225967541722804.post-50972065421440052002012-01-28T16:30:00.000-06:002012-01-28T16:30:26.215-06:00Painting/Illustrating Like A Mad Fool

Since the new year began I have been focusing on the children's book my friend Peggy wrote and wanted me to illustrate. Honestly, a book is a big chunk of work. We have the layout done and it's looking like it will be 13 or so paintings by the end of it. I've spent days doing studies of monkeys to get the right feel for his character and others in the story, and have been painting with the majority of my free time. But all the work is not in vain. Pages 1, 2 & 3 are complete (12x18 watercolor paintings) and were presented to the author yesterday. She was beyond pleased and has more for me to illustrate when this one is done. So my this may provide non-stop work for me if all goes well. But for now, I've got 10 more pages to go.GorgeousGeorgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01122687368936107406noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6528225967541722804.post-8000026872960995672011-12-26T14:31:00.000-06:002011-12-26T19:00:44.458-06:00Two Watercolor Portraits Complete

You are looking at my christmas present to my parents. They are cute aren't they? They are also the people who started me on my path with art. My fathers darkroom in the basement, my mothers love of choreography & music, involvement in community theater, bands, choirs, constant trips to libraries or museums, are just to name a few of the influences of my childhood. Though with seven children we were not well to do, they could always find a few bucks for supplies and tools like a sewing machine, clarinet, or a nice pen. They loved them as much as the children they brought them to.

But to get to the point, it was that early introduction to the worlds beautiful creations that shaped this girl. And I am beyond grateful. Not only did they share with their children an appreciation for all arts, but they encouraged us all to pursue whatever it was that created fire in our soul. This gift of two paintings won't make us even, but wouldn't be possible without them.

You are looking at two of my strongest advocates. I love them both. Merry Christmas.GorgeousGeorgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01122687368936107406noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6528225967541722804.post-31772264097124217812011-12-05T14:47:00.001-06:002011-12-05T18:39:41.081-06:00Baby Room Designed & Executed
ALL THIS CLIENT NEEDS NOW IS A BABY

Had a great time working with this client on their baby room. I can't say that I consider myself too terribly "gangsta" but I think it was a success in making it look like a tag. A writer friend of mine whom I have done work for in the past and am currently working on an illustrated children's book with in my free time needed a logo/badge for her blog. Something urban and fun looking. Can't wait to start it. I already have ideas running around in my head. If only I didn't have to get ready for work at the Hostel. :( oh well. I suppose this is why we are starting a blog. So I can skip the day job all together eventually. So if you know anyone who needs some creative work done, I have flexible prices and every little bit helps. Including this badge. Very nice.GorgeousGeorgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01122687368936107406noreply@blogger.com0
